2017 Goals

img_5857

I hesitate to call these “resolutions” because everyone knows that people usually quit their resolutions within a month. I’m pretty determined to accomplish a few things this year, though, and everyone also knows that writing down goals and telling people about them makes you more likely to achieve them.

RIDING

  • Weekly lessons; average two dressage and two jumping per month.
  • Complete at least one event.
  • Read the USEA rule book, in full.
  • Budget and save for 3+ competitions this spring/summer/fall.
  • Buy a saddle.

HEALTH

  • Exercise 3-4 times per week (including riding lessons) for a total of 180 workouts/days with exercise in 2017.
  • Run a 5k in the spring. Then decide if I want to run more.

BLOG

  • Blog at least twice per week.
  • Continue chronicling my foray into evening with monthly installments on Eventing Nation (see the first and second installments!).

OTHER

  • Unsubscribe from all the spam emails I get (and cause me to waste time every day deleting them).
  • Find a good organization to volunteer with once a month.
  • Clean out my closet/dresser and get rid of clothes that I don’t wear, are worn out, or are no longer in style.

To help me stay on track with these goals, I purchased a pretty planner and some of my favorite pens in many-colored inks. I love planners and pens. And color-coordinating things.

I plan to write out every goal in the front of the planner, then make plans to stay on track, such as scheduling out my planned runs each week, brainstorming blog post ideas and finding time to volunteer. I also want to keep notes in the weekly section of the planner, such as how a run went, where I volunteered, and so on.

I’ve also decided that if I don’t complete some or any of these goals, that’s okay. I’m simply using this time to reorganize and keep heading in the right direction.

I think there are exciting things in store this year!

  1. Great set of goals. I like the closet dear out. Stuff just flutters up your life and obscures the path. I do a clear out once a year and give the clothes to the local Care and Share. Then I hav space to see everything! All the best for 2017!
