Is it more fun if I intersperse this post about renovating my home office with GIFs from The Office?
YUP.
I’d had it in my mind for awhile that we needed to turn our spare bedroom into an office for awhile. Partially because it was known as The Box Room. We just dumped all the boxes of random stuff from our move in there and tried not to open the door. Ignorance is bliss.
Once it became clear that we would be working from home for the foreseeable future, my husband and I quickly realized we were going to need a little more separation between our work stations. We both take several calls per day, so the distance from the dining table to the kitchen table was not cutting it.
So I dragged a folding table up from the basement, and several boxes down. I stole a comfy chair from elsewhere in the house and – voila! Office.

Please notice the lovely two-toned walls that I like to call Sad Beige and The Burgundy-est. There was also a strip of wallpaper border separating the two. In the photo above, all that was left was the backing from where we just kinda ripped it off one day and never finished the job.
Over the course of two weekends, I picked paint, removed the wallpaper, primed the trim and walls, ordered a rug, a desk and a curtain rod, found curtains in the closet that would probably work, painted the trim and the walls two different colors, assembled the desk, hung artwork, added flowers in a vase and framed family pictures. My husband also replaced all the switches and outlets with new bright white ones. Whew.

We just need to replace the vents with new white ones and then it’s done! I love it and it makes “going” to work every day much nicer.
I’m so happy I finally found a spot for the Kandinsky horse print. I love it. I also love the addition fo the family pics, fresh daffodils from our garden and a candle from EQUUS Candles.

OH RIGHT! I won three adorable candles from EQUUS Candles around Christmas time. I got Carrot & Sugar, Tobacco & Spice, and Pine & Frost. They smell nice and they are super cute!
So now I get to wake up, get ready for work and make the commute down the hall to my adorable office. It makes me happy!
This looks so so so good!!! I super want to overhaul my home office now that we’re in the new house, hoping it turns out as cute as yours did!

It made SUCH a difference to paint and make it nice. I think I might still need to add some bookshelves or something…but for now, it’s a cheerful place to spend my days!

I am so envious of all you people painting your offices! It’s absolutely on my to-do list, but somehow keeps getting bumped for slightly more interesting and fun outdoors projects. I really just need to buckle down and get to it.

To be fair, I did paint my office on days when it was very cold, raining or even snowing outside. On the nice days Iโm outside doing more fun and interesting things too!
