For most of the summer it seemed like everyone was complaining that it was too chilly and didn’t really feel like summer (myself included). The past week or so has been mid-90s and humid, so the heat index has been well over 100. Obviously now people are complaining about how hot it is, but not me…I feel fall and winter breathing down my neck and I don’t want summer to end!
That being said, I haven’t been to the barn in quite awhile. Partly this is also because Leanne had her baby (!!!) – a little boy! Yay! That meant our lessons this past week were canceled, obvs. And now I’m on a little Labor Day vacay at my parents’ house on the lake. The perfect way to bid summer a fond farewell. I don’t care what the calendar says, summer’s pretty much over after Labor Day in my opinion.
Looking to the fall, Husky and I will be taking a break while Leanne is hanging out with the newest member of her family. I think the time apart will be good for us. As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Not that I’ll be absent from the barn. I’m going to start working with a horse named Knightwind for the fall, and I’m pretty excited for a new kind of challenge. I’ll be meeting her next week and we’ll take it from there. It should be fun!
And now I’m going to soak up the last bits of “real” summer on the boat.
We’ve had the same thing here-sudden heat wave!! Makes it a little hard to ride the horses, but it feels great at the pool! I’ll take it while I can, gosh knows that it’ll be cold soon enough!
