Centered in the Saddle

Last weekend, my barn friend M and I decided to take some portraits of Trainer B’s horse and frame them up as a surprise. We gussied up the horses – braided manes and everything. And we headed out to a small grass pasture for a pretty backdrop.

This horse…does not have a career as a model. She’s very good at looking not-cute for the camera. So we decided to try and get some action shots instead of portraits. M took her to the far corner of the pasture and let her loose. We figured we’d get some nice extended trot photos. We, um, did not.

I was literally doubled over, laughing so hard I was crying. She’s a special one, that Maisie. The best part? She’s actually an amazing mover and fantastic at dressage. I hope these pictures bring some levity to your Friday afternoon!
